I've been a fan of Plucker for a while. Basically, Plucker's Desktop component convert files, compress then, and allow them to be viewed on your palm pilot with a little Plucker app. Notice I said files. Something on your hard drive, something on the web, a graphics file, text with graphics on a map page, a text file ... I could go on.

Mark recently discovered JPluck. It's a Java based desktop application for creating files for Plucker to read. It's fast. It's faster than the Plucker Desktop that Mark had been using on windows. It's faster than the Plucker Desktop that I had been using on Linux. It's fast. It's slick. It works well.

So now, I've got Jason Pettus, The New York Times, BBC, Wired, and The Onion on my pilot again.

How does one explain CVS, wanting to learn how to administer it and create repositories?

Every field has something like CVS. There is a very complicated, multifaceted widget that can be used in multiple manors and has many, sometimes disparate, benefits. Additionally, describing this widget usually involves a lot of buzzwords, TLAs, and situations that are specific to your field or your situation.

I tried to explain what CVS was, why I wanted to be able to create and admin repositories from home and be more than just a user. I'm not sure if I conveyed everything well or accurately, but that's not what really mattered.

What mattered is that Markie asked what I was reading, and we talked about it.
