Now I'm confused

So the phone people came by yesterday. They put some kind of EM signal generator on the phone line. They traced it with some StarTrek sounding device that looked like it came from Radio Shack. They think it got cut somewhere along the line and never worked. So sad.

The solution? Well, there happened to be a mound of speaker wire back there that ran upstairs to the loft area. Naturally ... yeah, right. Anyways, they've turned 2 of them into a phone line, rewired the dangling speaker wires into a phone jack that they streched a phone line TO.

The confusing part: They didn't ask for any money. I'm guessing we're going to be billed.
