Maybe it's goback

Jathan's laptop came with Norton System Works 2003 which includes GoBack Personal Edition 3.11. I'm now wondering if this question GoBack compatibility with Windows XP is saying that only the Professional Edition is good on Windows XP. Mind you, we're talking about XP home. We're also talking about software that shipped with the computer.

But it makes sense. GoBack does modify the master boot record. That is always dangerous. It should be done by sysadmins and companies that know what they're doing.

Ugghhh.

I'm really starting to dispise that computer

I can now only boot into safe mode.

Non of the extensive scans come up with anything.

I need this computer working and ready to travel by the 16th. Things are so not looking good.

uggghhhh... Jathan, I hope you're not reading this

Since we've got the DSL connection, my nephew, Jathan, has left his new laptop here for updates and installation of various utilities.

I got the 26 Critical MS service packs installed last night. However, after I tried to install the "Default Applications" control pannel, things have so not been happy. The computer is now hanging in a mannor similar to when Mark's Lifebook had an intermittent HD failure.

Uggh... I now want to fdisk and reinstall. I'm going to get a clearance from Jathan's father before reinstalling. I'm not sure if what email address the antivirus was registered under.
