And we have a winner

And we have a winner ladies and gentlemen

Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like the Harmony Remote SST-659 is our winner! It's a universal remote that:

  • You program via a USB port
  • Has a number of AV components and more being added all the time
  • Has a number of "other" components
  • Has lots of real buttons
  • Can be programmed for Macros
  • Can learn from your remote
  • Has light up buttons
  • Does not break the bank

At least somone is doing something right.

As for the TV ... well Sangita, it has some pretty beef-ie (minus the brain disease) speakers on it's own. I think that we may be able to get away with most of the components being wired directly into the TV. Although, one thing that I did learn about Mark's reciever is that there are all kinds of sound processing modes that can be used that make things sound a lot better. Modes like Movie theater B, small concert halls, large concert halls, and Jazz clubs. It makes for really good sound.

On other fronts, I'm considering David's advice more closely. He, being tied on both sides to the medical side, thinks that an appropriate niche market for me to pursue would be IT consulting for small Medical Offices. He's counseled me that it might be a good fit for me. I think that I agree with his counsel a bit more than Marcus' counsel on becoming the manager for a Software Group. At least, it's a bit more attractive.

I've just taken Blanche for a walk. I'm feeling kind of bad because I had to yell at her and do some time out type discipline. She started running into the street to meet another dog walking by. I can't have her running out into the street like that. I don't know if we've let her do that for other dogs, but we have to work in an "ok, we can go" kind of a signal first. After I yelled at her we didn't move until she was doing some "sit", "down" and "stay" ... i just wanted to get her under control and have her acknowledge who should be in charge. I know she's ok, and that it's easier for her if she knows who is in control of the pack, but still ...

Anyways, I better get going on the other things for today.
